Cottage Pie

Cottage pie, also known as shepherd's pie, is a traditional English dish made with minced (ground) meat covered with mashed potato. The meat is typically beef or lamb left over from a Sunday roast. The term "shepherd's pie" tends to be used when the meat is lamb (from Wikipedia)

* 600 gram minced beef/lamb
* 4 pcs medium size potatoes
* 1 cup sour cream/soft cheese
* 1/2 cup grated vintage cheese
* 2 egg yolks
* salt, black pepper, ground nutmeg
* 2 pcs large carrots, cubed
* 2 stalks large celery
* 1 cup button mushroom, sliced
* 1 cup frozen green peas
* 1 pcs large onion, finely chopped
* 6 pcs garlic, finely chopped
* 4 tbs Worchestershire sauce
* 1 bunch fresh parsley, chopped
* butter

1.) Boil potatoes until thoroughly cooked
2.) In separate pan, heat oil & cook onion + garlic until fragrant
3.) Add minced meat, mix until it turns color. Add salt & pepper
4.) Mix in carrots, celery, mushroom, peas, worchestershire until cook through. Sprinkle with chopped parsley
5.) In a bowl, clean potatoes from skin & mash them. Add egg yolk, cream cheese, vintage cheese, nutmeg, salt & pepper
6.) In oven proof dish, layer with butter, then 2/3 of mashed potatoes at the bottom
7.) Layer with meat fillings, sprinkle with grated vintage cheese
8.) Top layer with the rest of mashed potatoes. Smoothen with bit of water & brush/finger
9.) Coat the surface with egg yolk, then decorate with fork
10.) Oven for 30 mnts - or microwave on combination high for 20 mnts then grill for 10 mnts
11.) Sprinkle with chopped parsley when serving
